Yes, yes! Another Pilgrim’s Progress post ๐ Let’s get started!
context
Alright, so Christian and Faithful are now on their way, and they come to a town called Vanity which was holding a fair full of terrible things. And terrible people.
As Christian and Faithful went through it (for they were almost to the Celestial City – their destination) the people called them names and tried to get them to buy awful things.
Faithful and Christian plugged their ears and pressed forward. this part was cool
But the men being patient, and not rendering railing for railing, but contrariwise, blessing, and good words for bad, and kindness for injuries done.
Somehow though, Christian and Faithful get accused for a scuffle. They get beaten and led in chains through the fair. They reflect all the rudeness of the people with calm and patient behavior.
And they were put in humiliation and put on trial I think? The judge was Lord Hate-good. The two good men comforted each other. The witnesses for Christian and Faithful made up lies and when Faithful tried to speak and defend for himself, they had a bunch of other people decide what to do with him.
They beat him brutally, stoned him, sliced him, and burned him until he had no breath left. Then a chariot from heaven took Faithful, proclaiming great things of him.
Poor Christian, all alone now, in the Vanity Fair. But suddenly, from the ashes, Christian wasn’t alone. God sent Hopeful to be Christian’s companion.
my thoughts
That was a pretty good one, kind of a cliffhanger haha.
But it keeps us at the edge of our seats! Faithful is a good influence. I hope that when the time comes, I will proclaim God’s truth and love over the hate of this world.
EVEN IF IT MEANS DEATH OR IF IT MEANS LOSING A FRIEND,
i’m ALL IN
thanks for reading! ๐
