The Interpreter

Yep. Another post on Pilgrim’s Progress! Here we go on the next section, always beginning on the context and then my thoughts

So this one was actually the clearest of them all that I’ve read so far! I can’t explain every detail of it cause it was very detailed but I can give you the brief overview.

Alright, so we know that Christian was on his way over to the Interpreter’s house. When he knocks (several times) it finally opens and when he meets the Interpreter – it doesn’t say if it was a man or woman but we’re just gonna call it a guy – he shows Christian inside.

And so basically the Interpreter interprets these things he shows Christian. I’ll give you a very very brief example of one of the /Interpreter shows Christian.

It’s a super dusty room and then the Interpreter has it cleaned by water. He explains how the overly dusty room is the soul of someone who doesn’t know Jesus (and I am adding ‘but they long for Him even though they don’t know it) and then interprets to Christian how the water is like the gospel; cleansing the soul.

Christian and the Interpreter go to a few more of these things that the Interpreter interprets or explains, to Christian. They haven’t finished yet but I am doing ‘the Interpreter’ in two parts.

That was my context!!

my thoughts

I did like this one a lot! I think it’s one of my favorite ones because I like visual images and examples of things.

Like, my favorite one was the one of the room – which is why I explained it, haha – because it really is so simple.

We aren’t cleansed without accepting and knowing God’s love! Just like if you leave a room without sweeping it for ages, our soul and hearts start to forget God’s way if we aren’t constantly surrounding ourselves with Him, and His community and prayer.
