What’s up, guys! Today’s assignment is on the section of Pilgrim’s Progress, Mr. Worldly Wiseman. Just my thoughts as usual!
context
Basically Christian is very tired and weary from traveling and from the burden upon his back. He meets Mr. Worldly Wiseman who pretends to pity him and tells Christian that his journey is pointless and that Evangelist isn’t sane (which he is sane).
Christian believes Mr. Worldly and gets pointed into a “short cut” from Mr. Worldly Wiseman. Uh oh!
my thoughts
This section was a little hard to read because of the wording but besides that it was pretty interesting. I also did read half of it aloud in a British accent so…haha.
But seriously, it does shows that it’s really hard to navigate a Christian life when the world is always telling you otherwise.
I liked this quote from J.R.R Tolkien, though. It reminded me of how easily we are strayed away.
“A man that flies from his fear may find that he has only taken a short cut to meet it.”
-J.R.R Tolkien, The Children of Hurin
Even when life with God gets hard, we have to stick with Him and stand on His word!
Enjoy my other posts! Hope you liked this one!
