Hi! Welcome to another Pilgrim’s Progress post! If you haven’t read the last one then I’ll just let you know I’ve been doing. Also just saying, none of what I wrote about has to do with a river, heheh.
Instead of an entire overview of what I read and then my thoughts on the whole thing, I now just give you brief context of the section I’ve read but then focus on one main thing ๐
I hope you enjoy this post!
context
Alright so after Christian and Hopeful’s discussion on Hopeful’s faith, they realize how far behind the one named Ignorance was.
They try to have conversation – Christian seems suspicious and asks many questions. He counters Ignorance with questions and Bible references before they keep going on their journey.
Already by his name, we know Ignorance isn’t a true believer even though his outer shell seems like he is. Christian and Hopeful don’t right away trust him; they ask questions.
my thoughts
Looking back at my other post, the Bible verses I referenced coordinate with this post as well. We aren’t supposed to be carefree and vulnerable to everyone.
It’s amazing and an example of Jesus to be welcoming and loving. But we need to be alert, like it says in 1 John 4…
1 John 4:1
beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
we are called to be witnesses of Jesus and that means following in the way He has walked.
1 John 4:5-6
they are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. We are from God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever is not from God does not listen to us. By this we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
Alright, so I liked this post because Christian is learning from his past experiences. He’s not falling into another trap!
It’s so cool how God can use our struggles and pains we had in our past for His good.
for His plan
conclusion
I know this post was a little bit shorter then normal but that might be nicer haha. Anyways, I hope you enjoyed this post and keep enjoying the rest!
thanks for reading ๐
